In other words, when it comes to the race for Governor we have a choice between social services being shot with a revolver or being shot with a semi-automatic.

Good to know. If we start now, could we get "None of the Above" to rise to the top?

It appears you are calling for a post-session special session for this plan.

.
..
...We had a featured speaker at a Paradise Democratic Club meeting several moons ago. Local judge Frank Sullivan explained in a rushed speech and several posters and hand outs the Clark County judicial system and noted the new departments coming on line.

...The costs are staggering and no light at the end of the tunnel...family court...counseling...baliffs ...new courtrooms...the list goes on, all paid by dwindling tax resources.

...This next Senate and Assembly should be realistic and look at the reality of legalizing and regulating the sale of marijuana. This state was in the vanguard of legalized gaming. Also condoned legal prostitution which contributes handsomely to some rural county budgets.

..California's citizens will have a vote this fall on there ballots and it is estimated to contribute 1.3 billion to the state treasury..$1.300,000,000...

...Nevada's financial system should accelerate the law making process and put this issue on the front burner and avoid the voting process which took a dozen years to get medical marijuana a reality here in Nevada.

...Since those elections and the law becoming reality there have been barely a thousand medical marijuan cards issued through a tedious expensive investgative application.

...Legal sales may help bring in tourists. A barcoded card for residents could keep a record of sales to buyers in case the state wants to keep it's big nose informed of usage. The same card could be sold at a higher price to tourists thereby giving income to the state for a piece of plastic.

...As the state gains dollars for the treasury, it could trim costs in police and apprehension, court room and judicial, and incarceration and prison costs. These are three high costing functions of a Governments immoral War on a herb that Presidents Washington, Madison and Jefferson cultivated on there Virginia plantations.

..Harvards Professor Jeffery Miron's web site has a statistical breakdown of all fifty states in a 2004 study of the three legal costs eliminated and estimated revenue that could be earned from the sale of the herb. Two tables give estimates if the sale was a common good and the other if it was taxed like tobbaco or alcohol.

Umm, holy crap, I agree with Gleaner with the exception of the sales tax.
Whoever is the next governor will have a lot of problems that have been cause by both Gibbons and Democrats and neither of these two canididates don't seem to have a clue what is going on.

BOTH Brian Sandoval and Rory Reid are running on "no new taxes". Great choice! I think it reflects the views of their financial backers. The big boys don't want to pay more taxes, or even the same taxes they paid before the economy collapsed, no matter what it does to the society.

...so why do we still continue to live here?

Why to we continue to live here?

Some of us have left already, and others are actively thinking about "plan B".

"Whomever is the next governor will have a lot of problems that have been caused by Gibbons and Nevadan's unwilling to bear the burden of any tax no matter what it's for; Neither of these groups seem to have a clue about what is going on."
FIXED!
When you post messages please try to think first and then write it out. Then, one final step, proof read your ill researched propaganda before posting it.

Thank you,
The Grammar Police

I refuse to let my tax dollars be spent on Grammar Police and thier greedy union.

...Slides a frosty mug of ink remover to the grammer police...

I don't come here to nitpick grammar, but really, that's a poor excuse for grammar policing up there.

1. It is in fact "whoever" and not "whomever," since "the next governor" is the subject not the object.

2. There should not be any apostrophe in "Nevadans."

3. That semi-colon should be a period (but if you insist on it, then "neither" should start in lowercase).

4. The whole first sentence should have a comma somewhere, preferably after ""the burden of any tax."

5. "Neither...seems to have a clue about what is going on," as neither is singular.

Also...there should be a hyphen between "ill" and "researched."

Back to the academy for you.

Wow, itz a goot thang ah kin spill.

Becoz iffen nott, u'd b ahlll ovah meee und makin corrr...errr...corex...um..fixin' miztakes.

No but he did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. ;)

@ temujin,
{Sigh}....I love my Mohawk Valley.

Big shout out to my peeps and family in Utica AND Whitesboro! Smooches! ...as she takes a sip from her Utica Club.

Dan, please understand that you can suck my dick. I say this not because of your usual I don't give a rat's ass whatever thing you said bull shit, but simply on principle. Dan, you can suck my dick. Or, if the grammar police are in effect, you MAY suck my large, engorged, rigid, dripping with precome penis.

Thank you Dan.

LOL!

Whoa, and I thought I pounded on Dan too much. But Vegas Tea Room has me beat -- and then some.
Frankly, neither gov. candidate is all that impressive, but Sandoval is going to win.
(So long as Rory Reid's dad wins the Senate race in November -- that's what matters most.)

temujin... khan of the yakka mongols;

You and scorpiogal have the secret knowledge and I still await Observer's answer.

As for Dan's latest post, I must once disagree with his conclusion. Dan writes that "neither of these two [Reid, Sandoval] canididates [sic] don't seem to have a clue what is going on." However, I believe both gentlemen have a keen idea of what is going on, and both are frozen, by the mercurial electorate, from speaking truth to the reality of "you can't get something for nothing".

Gleaner has presented data demonstrating that NV has the smallest government employee ratio per capita; the lowest state and local tax burden (toss up with AK over past decade); the lowest cost government as a percentage of state GDP (I was shocked at the cost of WY government as % of GDP) and the 3rd or 4th most friendly tax environment for business in the country....and yet, many people think we are taxed to death. If the NV tax 'burden' is too much for any of our 2.7m citizens, I take this opportunity to inform them that there is NO OTHER state in the Union to run to in order to pay lower taxes!

Given the rabid Right interest in voting this Fall, as demonstrated by the primary turnout of the Right/small government type as compared with the pathetic turn out of the Left/Progressives in the primary on June 8th, and any campaign adviser with an IQ above 70 would tell their principal to offer NOTHING as relates to revenue enhancement to run our state government.

Looking at campaign/expense reports, I note there was not as much money being handed out by the Left leaning groups as there was from the Right leaning groups. As most voters are "informed" by the number of roadside signs and the number of four color mailers in their mailbox, we can only hope that D candidates are the recipients of additional campaign monies.

Geevegastearoom, did you just come out of the closest? I haven't heard such a gay tirade like that in a very long time. All the gay people in Vegas must be so proud of you.

well, vegastearoom, I just saw your blog. I guess you are out of the closest. I guess you are just a pervert then.

Dan, honey, VTR is a satirist, not a pervert.

Thank you Tailspin, you are a lady and a scholar.

Oh VTR you are at it again. Not to belabor the grammar police isn't it precum rather than precome. Either way both are pretty graphic. BTW from a grammar standpoint isn't Dan saying that both candidates do know what's going on? Double negative and all that jazz.-Just asking.

@Dave404 I agree up to a point. I disagree with: "Given the rabid Right interest in voting this Fall, as demonstrated by the primary turnout of the Right/small government type as compared with the pathetic turn out of the Left/Progressives in the primary on June 8th," I'm not concerned with the Primary turn-out. Except for the down ticket candidates no one on the Dem side was doing a hard core primary GOTV turnout. I think a better way to look at this is: with all the heated Republican races that's the most they were able to generate? The percentage was not high.

No one on the Democratic side anticipated a high primary turnout. All the major nominees were going to win their slots.

This will vastly change come November. Most of the Anti-Reid people have come out. I don't think the Repubs will be able to significantly increase their numbers.Angle is looking too crazy to appeal to massive numbers of Independents and small defections from Dems. The Dem ground game is expanding daily. There will not be a repeat of the 2006 GOTV in Clark County. I predict H. Reid by 5%. Rory and Sandoval will be neck and neck in the final weeks and will be a toss up.

Dems will keep marjorities in the Senate and Assembly. The ground game will be the determining factor. (each day I become more convinced that we are better organized and we have a better ground game) The Latino vote will help decide both Harry's and Rory's election.

Dear kickboxermomma;

I so hope that your interpretation of the facts as you understand them prevails.

As for he use of double-negatives, I have concluded that most rant writers do not understand what a double-negative is and thus the use of a double-negative is just plain good Palin English for them. L
However, let us wait for Dan to confirm either one of our hypothesis.
