The Sun's new guy lays out a breezy and cheery explanation of one of the ways that Sen. John "Hub" Ensign is so totally screwed.
"There’s a good chance there is already an assistant U.S. attorney assigned to this case," says one former prosecutor who worked with the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section.
"I wouldn’t be surprised if they felt in this case there was enough predication for a full investigation. Theoretically, they could be there already," says another.
Good times. And good story.
Well, I hope the assistant U.S. attorney don't peruse local Las Vegas papers to investigate this asshole. They'll find nothing except hinted references about how he is almost like St. Francis of Assisi or something.
Thank the Lord we have Ms. Sloan from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) providing factual information to them to help.
I just hope they react quickly and don't let this idiot do what he wants and just keep cruising along like nothing happened illegal. Because he clearly blew his chances to remain in office. And every minute he remains there is like a slap in the face to every voter in the Sovereign State of Nevada.

It was a well done story by the Sun reporter.
The bad news is the DOJ Public Integrity Section is the same group that so totally screwed up the Ted Stevens case!
Here's hoping they learned some beneficial lessons from the Steven's case.
My money is on Gibbons appointing himself.

Dear Gleaner Readers:
I want to draw your attention to an important online essay, "Bankrupt Morality: the staying power of Republican Sinners", by David Rosen, author of the new book "Sex Scandals America: Politics and the Ritual of Public Shaming".
David Rosen asks the important question, "why is John Ensign still in office?" To find out the answer, check out the essay at
http://www.counterpunch.org/rosen10082009.html
Upon reading about John Ensign's sad plight, you will doubtedless be moved to cry out "Oh, that's too bad!" A situation for which the Germans invented the word "Schadenfreude."

The hourglass is running ... and so is Ensign's time in the Senate -- running out, that is.
Bye-Bye, Johnny Fornication Casino -- we won't miss your sorry, sanctimonious ass.
