With the public announcement that he was cheating on his wife, it can be said of Sen. John Ensign that he now really and truly has lettered in all Capitol Hill intramural sporting events.
Of course, his achievement as the best golfer in the history of this or any representative democracy in history has been thoroughly documented, and his prowess on the playing field -- any playing field -- is well known.
So if the news about his extramarital gamesmanship was not shocking enough, another breaking development may come as even more of a bombshell:
"He's not here. You'd think he'd fly back for the game," said Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, the Republican manager.
Oh yeah. In other Ensign-related news, an Ensign crony of some sort says that the Do had at least one other affair. This week's disclosure...
And the Hamptons have lawyered up while more and more questions are being raised about how much Ensign paid assorted members of that family (including offspring) and when and why and so this thing is likely to get really rather messy, no?
As just about everybody is saying on every website in and out of Nevada, stay classy, Las Vegas.
Oh gawd, The 'Do is missing a baseball game? Oh noezz! Stop the presses, stop the presses! The 'Do can't make his baseball game.
(And I continue ROTFLMAO. It couldn't have happened to a better head of hair.) ;-)

Hell, the man has already rounded all the bases and apparently not just once....all that extracurricular activity has apparently stolen his mojo. This story just keeps getting better.

Does anybody wonder what precipitated Ensign's recent "confess and repent" press conference? It has been claimed that an extortion plot forced Ensign's hand. But here's another possibility: Ensign had started to mull a Presidential bid by exploring the Iowa caucus scene. The scandal torpedoed it. Coincidence?
Who had a motive to thwart Ensign's Presidential aspirations? Maybe a backer of a Republican rival? Or a Democrat?
Whaddya think, too crazy? Coincidence or conspiracy?

Ned-
Good questions. No doubt, Ensign wants to run. And judging from his recent actions, I think he still has delusions of grandeur. It will be interesting to see in the coming days what the Hamptons have to say, and who they've been spilling the beans with.

So what? Where's the goddamn beef?
This being Nevada, Ensign will survive since he won't have to run for reelection for four years -- tens of light years in politics here -- and his GOP friends north and south who have no real principles after all (like that R-J moron Sherm Frederick) will financially back and vote for him anyway because he's better than any liberal-read "socialist" Democrat.
And, they will defend the "sanctity" of marriage, as will he when the time comes. OH BOY.
I wish I could leave, but I'm stuck, i.e., stuck with that mistress-paying idiot Ensign for a U.S. Senator.
The winger Bay Buchanan gushed today on CNN: "He's human!"
Great future here for all of us underwater types, one that will make a lot of sense, don't you think?
