In the course of nearly winning the Republican nomination in Nevada's second congressional district in 2006, a DC. radical conservative organization called Club for Growth and its candidate, Sharron Angle, ran ads calling Dean Heller a "liberal."
After barely eking out a victory over Angle in a primary that also included a castaway ferret, Heller rode the district's heavy GOP numerical advantage to Congress (where he has been ranked as a firm and reliable conservative indeed by the American Conservative Union -- another D.C. radical conservative organization and so presumably a group that would know).
Now Angle is exploring a possible run against Harry Reid in 2010.
Rudderless and floundering, the Republican Party has of late allowed itself to become identified almost exclusively by the seething fury of its most ignorant, frightened and backward members. Which is to say Angle would be a perfectly appropriate choice to be the party's nominee for U.S. Senate.
Long before it became clear that the political wheels had come off the Republican Party -- and that Nevada was a blue state -- an angry Angle was calling Heller a "liberal." "Socialist," "communist" and "fascist' would be the nicest things Angle and the Club for Growth would say about Reid. Angle likes to say she's "the conservative you can count on," and one thing we could all count on if she is the GOP nominee is an outrageous and occasionally unnerving but mostly hilarious spectacle of full-on right wing idiocy, outrage and paranoia. It would be a hoot.
Yet for all that Angle is still a much, much more credible candidate than the person the Reid camp would most like to run against.
So why didn't you include a donation linky, Mr. Gleaner? Some of us can't wait to see Sharri Angle lose fabulously to Harry Reid next year! ;-)

Sharron Angle is John Ensign without the good hair.

The Gleaner says that Harry Reid would most like to run against Sherman Frederick? Nah, Sherm is only #2 on Harry Reid's secret list.
#1 is Jim Gibbons, of course. Why? Because Mary Kincaid-Chauncy, convicted felon, is not available. Lance Malone gave the same lame excuse.

And some vital other equipment, Michael; or, maybe not come to think of it. A dickless do, hmmmmmmmm

Rich, I'm glad I had not just eaten when I read that.

If she does run, one can only hope that Ms. Angle can get over the impressively high bar set by Texas State Representative Betty Brown.

Not sure why the link I put in the above post is not working, but here is the item on Ms. Brown:

Well I hate to be a kill joy but...Yes Angle is a Whack of the worst kind and very scary, but when you talk to her face to face, like at the door when she knocks on it, she does not come off as totally out there. She is, don't get me wrong, but she campaigns well. Really the best I have seen. She is a campaign monster. Just ask Raggio. And, this could be her "perfect storm" campaign against Harry. First, she is an anti tax hero, and there is a movement, you judge the size, but a movement none the less of anti taxers, "Tea Baggers" LOL. There is a strong feeling of angst against the bailout, which Harry supported, Angle is way against. Second, Angle will win CD2 over Harry. She is known here and won her AD26, largest in the North, easily, time and again. She did well against Heller in the R prime and relates well to the Rural R's. Harry has single digit approval in the North and Rurals. Even with the D's mixed in. Rural D's don't like him either. Third, What kind of vote turn out do you think Clark will have this time. My prediction is miserable. Without a high turn out of Democrats in Southern Nevada, Harry is in big trouble. Yes Angle is a whack, but it might be her year.

I think Angle is filing to raise money, ostensibly for a run against Reid, but I wonder....is she using her time to raise money while she awaits Heller's gubernatorial aspiration announcement so she can almost assuredly change races and finally win CD2?
As of today, Angle has not filed with the FEC as a candidate for either senate or house.

Dave, what you have to realize is that Angle is a bulldozer with one gear and no steering. She goes straight forward, slow and steady, at the same target, with the same message. If she says she is running against Harry, she is running against Harry no matter who gets into the primary race or what other seats open up. If and when she files that is where she will stay, no matter what. It is not about political aspiration or power for her, it is getting into an office where she can vote NO on everything. The higher the office the better. It is a self sacrifice, she will throw herself against the juggernaut to get her message out. If she runs, she will be tough and she will get money from Club for Growth type groups to fund TV adds.

Temujin - It's simple, our Governor is behind Angle, just out of range of those cameras, just like in the parking garage.

Sharon Angle the also ran is treading water and will slowly sink towards oblivion. Ummm...Let'et's see she's hoping to raise 100.000 and Harry alreday has 7 Million. That picture is a little off balance. Incidentally, Cyndy Olivas Triggs has formed an exploratory group in order to raise money snd eventually run for office in that District.
