The teeming thousands of people at UNLV's anti-budget cut rally shattered all attendance expectations (especially those that were deliberate attempts to lower expectations), participating in what surely must be the largest public issue demonstration in the history of the university and assuring that the smelly flim-flam man Jim Gibbons will go down in history not only as Nevada's most emotionally unbalanced and skankiest governor but also the one who tried to wipe out Nevada's education system. A lasting legacy!
The youngn's made fun signs, too.
Now all they have to do is get the Legislature to:
- Stop all the corporate welfare in the form of "economic development" tax breaks;
- Eliminate tax deductions that allow the mining corporations to wipe out their tax bills;
- Establish a business profits tax.
Well, that's for starters.
Anyway, thank goodness for today's youth. Clearly, if the state's well-being was left solely to the grown-ups in the bidness world and our so-called community leaders, who knows what kind of deep shit we'd all be in about now and ... wait, what? Oh. Right.
That was an inspiring rally. The students clearly understood the repeated calls to flood the state lege with calls, emails and visits. "The governor is irrelevant," said Chancellor Rogers. Indeed.

The torch has been passed to the young of America. Godspeed to them...it's time for old skanks like Gibbons to move away.
One thing that bothered me about the Obama inauguration was they didn't push Cheney down the stairs in his wheel chair...like Bette Davis did to Joan Crawford in "Baby Jane".
