UPDATE: The previously scheduled musical performance discussed below has reportedly now been canceled, almost as if it were, oh, an irregular appointment of a state tourism director. So never mind.

Providing a tinge of interest to an otherwise wholly irrelevant event, the putrid stench (occasionally) occupying the Nevada governor's office has invited the daughter of one of the women he was most definitely not having sex with to sing the national anthem prior to Thursday's state of the state address, Ralston reports in his Flash email thingy.

Specifically, the vocalist in question is the high-school daughter of Gibbons text message BFF and Chrissy Mazzeo look-alike Kathy Karrasch, who as you may recall featured prominently in the motion Dawn Gibbons filed to open up divorce proceedings to the public so as to assure the dissolution of the marriage receives the full order of derision and mockery it deserves.

As Dawn's lawyer wrote...

"...even when, after consuming copious amounts of alcohol, and under the cover of darkness, in a garage in Las Vegas, the Plaintiff was accused of assaulting a young woman, bearing a striking resemblance, to the “other woman” referenced, below..."

Which was followed with...

"Truth, despite his disingenuous, shallow and transparent protestations that his relationship with another man's wife is a mere friendship, his infatuation and involvement with the other woman is the real, concealed and undisclosed reason for his voluntary departure from the marriage and from the Mansion where he occasionally resided."

Text messaging dexterity is one of the few accomplishments Jim Gibbons can rightly claim, but attracting attention to it just as every person in the state is declaring him pointless shows that he is not only one of the nation's most unbalanced public officials but also among its most obtuse (and the decision to allow a minor to get dragged into this circus suggests that the women Gibbons most definitely did not have sex with are none too sensitive to the existence of an outside world either, for that matter.)

Anyway, while such amusements can be welcome distractions in these troubled times, mostly it would probably be best for everyone involved if all these people would just go away.
