Yes, well, it appears that someone named Brian Krolicki is Nevada's Lieutenant Governor, which is a wholly ceremonial part-time job with no responsibilities at all and should be eliminated altogether as a cost-saving measure in these trying financial times. Anyway, he used to be the state treasurer, which is a full-time job involving the supervision of some of the state's money so of course Krolicki spent some of it inappropriately for his own benefit becausee he's a Republican and that's pretty much how they roll. And now NV AG Catherine Cortez Masto says she's going to see if she can't get him indicted for it. AP
Oh one other thing about this alleged Brian Krolicki person. He was maybe going to run against Harry Reid in 2010 because, well, the Republicans don't have anybody else.
Of course this is not the first time Krolicki has been indicted.
Note to Hon. Sen. Harry Reid or anyone associated with Hon. Sen. Harry Reid:
I will never run against you nor will anyone in my immediate family.
I will vote for you.
I will donate to you.
You are powerful and handsome.
I think you are a swell guy.
Please don't have me indicted, killed, maimed, or publically embarrassed. Also, please destroy that picture floating around of me and my dog, Chunks.

:)
Robison is Krooklicki's attorney? Then why did Krookliki pay all the thousands of dollars to the law firm of Hale Lane Peek Dennison & Howard in 2007? Can't wait for the January 2009 c/e report!
I smell a deal coming, but only if Brain quits his office and agrees never to run for elected office in Nevada ever again.
Bob Beers for Lt. Governor appointment?

Hell to the yeah! So much for Krolicki making Papa Reid sweat! I guess Papa Reid must have felt something like this was coming, which would explain why he wasn't freaking out too much about this supposedly "tough challenge".
Is there ANY high-profile Nevada Republican left who hasn't been caught in scandal? Or will the GOP have to pick Bob Beers as their sacrificial lamb to be slaughtered by our dear Majority Leader? ;-)

I don't think Reid was going to freak out much about Krolicki even if he wasn't going to be indicted--but I also think Reid is smart enough to be concerned about anybody. If you're a good politician, you campaign like mad, even when you look unbeatable.
I've always wondered if Krolicki was providing impeachment insurance for the Goobernor. Beers for lieutenant governor? That would be fun. He knows fewer facts than even Gibbons does.

Michael-
True. That's why his efforts to build a strong Democratic Party here in less than 4 years has been simply brilliant. He now has a 100,000+ Democratic registration edge and an amazing ground game advantage to work with. And now with Krolicki possibly mortally wounded by this looming indictment, the GOP is in a real bind to find any challenger who can possibly overcome the major challenges Republicans now face in Nevada.
I don't know if I can think of another state where the political environment has transformed so drastically and so rapidly. I sometimes still wonder how Reid pulled it off.

...Do these jobs come with batteries...???

That leaves Dean Heller as Reid's only possible tough opponent. Or Wayne Newton.
Posted by: mc | 11/24/2008 at 09:59 PM
ATDLEFT - he didn't do it, Obama's team did it and Harry just waltzes in and takes the credit. The only thing Reid pulled off is his ... uh we won't get into that, this is a family blog.

According to the SOS website Krolicki doesn't have a legal defense fund. One of his attorney's Scherer was to be employed by the Hale law firm in 2005. The other Krolicki attorney did a 'contribution in kind' in 2007 to the tune of $5,000.
Maybe another alleged violation of the law for Kroliki to defend?

I guess the Gleaner has forgotten about the Clark County Commissioners a few years back...

Let's call him "Dirty Harry" from now on. Don't you dare even think about running for my seat!
Posted by: dave202 | 11/25/2008 at 08:27 PM
The questions about Krolicki came up about 10 minutes after the new treasurer took over. If Krolicki thinks he's in trouble only because he said he might want to lose next year's Senate race--because that is what he would do--he really ought to get some professional help.

I saw the headlines yesterday and I thought what a whiner. It was offensive when Krolicki used his position as Treasurer to compaign and we the citizens of Nevada had to pay for his expensive self promotion.
Heller yes please run against Harry. That will really giving us a shot at picking up that Congressional District. Oscar please DON'T run for governor.
I predicted a landslide for Obama in Nevada and I predict the same for Harry although Harry will take a clue from Obama and run as if he is 20 points behind. We will be seeing a lot more pork and other benefits coming back to Nevada ala Reid for the next 18-20 months.
Posted by: kickboxermomma | 11/26/2008 at 05:46 AM
KBM I hope you're dead wrong on the pork. Isn't our new president against that?
Posted by: Libra Dude | 11/26/2008 at 08:38 AM
So Reid can use his office to funnel taxpayer dollars to pork projects to promote himself...I don't know maybe get a school or park named after himself too, maybe even spend tax dollars on leaflets and pamphlets and books with his mug on it, but that is OK?
Like most politicians Reid is a crook, I look forward to his political demise.

Heller has significant baggage that has not been brought to light. A guy with big money like Reid will get it out and Heller will be outed.

Is this the Libertarian Patrick, or is this a Patrick who seems amazed that Reid is different from 99 other senators and every other competent senator in history?
Posted by: Michael Green | 11/26/2008 at 02:11 PM
Not to mention the incompetent ones.

.....Gibbons...For...Senate.....???
Posted by: temujin... khan of the yakka mongols | 11/26/2008 at 07:44 PM
Pork isn't all bad. We need more transportation dollars and other moneies funneled to create jobs here in the State.
Posted by: kickboxermomma | 11/27/2008 at 05:40 AM
1) Mike, are you suggesting that only competent Senators funnel pork projects back to their friends?
2) KBM, no, while pork is a small portion of the amount of wasteful spending the Federal government well wastes, it is not beneficial to us on balance. If we taxpayers had that money to spend as we will, the economy would be slightly better off.
3) Want transportation dollars sell the highways.
Posted by: Patrick | 11/27/2008 at 08:36 AM
Patrick, I am not suggesting that. I am suggesting that only competent senators funnel pork projects back to their states. The incompetent ones don't, therefore are not serving their states, and quickly disappear. That has been going on since, oh, around 1789.
Posted by: Michael Green | 11/27/2008 at 10:23 AM
Actually what is considered pork spending today is quite new. It represents now about $16 billion of overall spending.
Now I personally consider most government spending to be pork, not what is currently defined by pork.
I also believe that one of the responsibilities of the Senator back in the day wasn't to funnel cash back to his home state but to help keep the government in check. You see, a long time ago, it was fashionable for politicians to note that the government could not legally do x or do y or spending money on z.
Today the politicians don't care.
