Curses! Foiled again!

Curses_foiled_againEven operating from The Original Heartland, bitchy little area megalomaniac (BLAM) Sheldon Adelson could not buy a victory for a War Party drone in a hitherto safe Republican congressional district in Mississippi (AP).

Freedom's Watch, Adelson's personal congressional campaign finance machine, dropped more than a half-million dollars to remind the good people of Mississippi that Barack Obama is a black man just like that one pastor who was in the news last month, and Obama is a Democrat, so don't vote for Democrats  (WSJ). Adelson's contribution was on top of about $1.3 million that the National Republican Congressional Committee threw at the race(TPM).

Alas, Democrat Travis Childers eked out a posted a commanding victory over the War Party's Greg Davis anyway, marking the third time in as many months that Adelson and his underlings at the NRCC have seen one their puppets go down to defeat.

On the bright side, Adelson was able to withstand this bitter loss while in Israel, where there is a more than ample supply of guns and religion to which one can cling in difficult times.

Loved your line about clinging to guns and religion...nice!

What is it with Vegas? First Howard Hughes and now this twirlybird.

Has anybody down there noticed that this guy has expired? Please fold the hand down on the chest and close the eyelids as is customary with a corpse. Don't you smell the rot? (Why else wear so big of a corsage?)

This IS the story line. People are sick of the Republicans and are voting for Democrats. The nomination is wrapping up. This is our election to lose. Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot.

NO MCCAIN, NOT NOW, NOT EVER

The irony of it all - the grand legacy of the Bush years will be the utter destruciton of what was once the Republican Party.

Cheers blokes...

CJ, don't ever count the Republicans out. I thought they were pretty much goners before the '94 election, and look what happened then. They'll take a beating in November and maybe again in '10, but don't be surprised if they rise up all Dracula-like and strike again sometime after that, especially if the Dems succeed in fucking things up. It's all cyclical.

So true - so true. What is it that makes Penguins and George Santanya
so wise? Must be the hot yak buttered rum.... Gotta give that a try.

Don't get me wrong...I am all for an opposition party....that's the system. But these GOPERS refused their role as Congressional overseers and they cosigned the worst imaginable incompetenace, not to mention - high crimes and misdemeanors.

The cost of this incompetance and crimes to the American treasury and soul, will force a redefinition of the GOP, at a minimum, in the wake of the Democrats electing large working majorities in both houses of congress, as well as gaining the Presidency.

America wasn't on the wrong track until the Christian GOPERS decided that their GOD knew what was best for America and they started to impose their view of morality on us all.

Gobama

Little known fact about Santanya: He was a flightless waterfowl in a previous lifetime. Ask any Hindu. (And no, I am not making fun of India.)

CJ: Yes, they will need to reinvent themselves in some way, but one thing they are quite good at is demonizing Dems; Swift Boat, anybody? That alone scores a lot of points with white working-class males and, if the Dems get carried away with a veto-proof majority and succeed in taxing the bejesus out of us all (you know how power-drunk politicians of any stripe can be, thinking they can get away with just about anything -- see DeLay, Tom, and Cunningham, Duke, et. al.), then they'll just have more fuel to dump on the fire.

Of course, much of what happened in '94 with Newty-Newt & The Cracker Bunch rising to power resulted from Hillary's actions wrt health care.

Also about Santanaya From Wikipedia: "Chuck Jones used Santayana's description of fanaticism as "redoubling your effort after you've forgotten your aim" to describe the cartoons starring Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner." (also now applies to Hillbutt)

Tex,
re: ".....close the eyelids as is customary with a corpse.."

Backwhere I come from we put pennys over the eyes to keep 'em from snappin' back open but use your best judgement, after all it is Sheldon.
