Diminutive megalomaniac makes a purchase
Assuming he's got any money left after donating handsomely to the likes of Democratic County Commissioners Tom Collins (wait, he's a Democrat?) and Chris Giunchigliani, will bitchy little area megalomaniac Sheldon Adelson and his wingnut independent expenditure group be buying ads to run against Robert Daskas in Nevada's third congressional district?
If so, the attacks would in all likelihood look very much like this ad that Freedom's Watch, Adelson's propaganda arm, has bought to beat up on some Louisiana Democrat who is running for Congress in a May 3 special election.
The ad slams the candidate, Don Cazayoux, for standing "with Barack Obama for a big government scheme" on health care and refers to "their plan." The tired, kneejerk rhetoric ("big government scheme") notwithstanding, a quick glimpse at Cazayoux's website suggests his positions on health care don't look much like Obama's at all and are actually of the rather timid variety that would be more in line with, oh, that wing of the party inhabited by the aforementioned Tom Collins. But that's really neither here nor there.
Freedom's Watch is reportedly not going to be much of a player for the McCan't campaign this year. The consultants, pikers and hangers-on who have tricked Adelson into funding their retirements will instead apparently focus on tight congressional races.
It will be interesting to see how the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee responds.
One suggestion: Saturating airwaves with ads showing Adelson's horrifying mug and asking something along the lines of "What does the world's 12th richest man, a Las Vegas gambling kingpin who is building a casino empire in China, expect to get in return for helping elect (insert War Party candidate) to Congress? Will (insert War Party candidate) be good for (insert state), or good for Chinese casinos?"
Of course, them being Democrats and all, the DCCC instead will probably buy mealy-mouthed ads explaining that their candidates are "for" health care for poor children.

So our own propaganda arm?
'Freedom's Watch' Watch?

I don't think our own Dems realize the damage they've done by accepting money from Sheldon.
If nothing else, they've made our own base all the more cynical by doing so. These three are DINO's, phony Dems, poseurs.
40K to Chris G is disgraceful, taking that money soiled and damaged a pretty good person--- Collins, Weekly--wtf have we been working for? Tom Collins taking Adelson money??? wtf are these insipid people doing taking Sands money?
It's these tight little cabals of evil doing this that have to be broken up. They don't give a damn about you, they are concerned about their own pockets.
Remember each Dem that took this money and vote against them the next time they're up, dammit, vote for the GOPer or IAP, or Green or anyone else...and don't let them forget the souls they sold cashing those checks.
Chris, Tom & Lawrence all deserve well funded primary challengers. Let's see that that occurs. Remember each time Chris, Tom or Lawrence tells you how good a Dem they are and how tireless they are to your concerns.
They are all three liars, pimps and thieves.
They took the money and ran because they collectively believe you're all stupid, and that you will forgive them.
That's what we've become here. Send 'em a big message and work against these people.
None deserve to call themselves Dems.

In our State we have a crossver history of voting the person not the party and accepting funding from whatever source. Times are achangin'.
IMO I don't think working to oust Chris G is very productive. She's a good reponsive rep for her district. Mike Zahara you will not find a strong wellfunded Dem to run against Chris. Tom Collins is an arrogant a****** who needs to be voted out of office.Voters from those districts should be calling to voice their opposition to taking Adelson's money. Hey Chris, Tom, Lawrence what does Adelson get for that money and why don't you see that as working against the interests of organized labor? How can the Labor Board continue to endorse these candidacies? Make it uncomfortable for these elected officials and let them know it can translate into votes.

Zahara, your ranting has become tedious. Seriously, you want to oust Chris G because she took a donation from the guy? Or do you just like the sound of your own voice that much?
BTW, on the topic of Sheldie, everyone check out the harmwarming story in today's RJ about how he lost over 300m this year? Seems to me that falls under the category "genius of capitalism".

I like Chris G, but 40K is a lot of cake.
It kind of dilutes her and erases her reformer past cashing that check in my view. Sheldon has worked against our most basic principles and Chris didn't seem to care when the 40 pieces of silver were offered.
After her dirty race with Myrna, she got to expect to be hit over the head with this 40K.
Eventually someone will do to her what she did to Williams. Every opponent she faces will have this in their arsenal.

Mike Z - Chris did nothing to Myrna than BEAT her. It was time to get Myrna out of office, she was ineffective and was so out of touch with reality. Anyone with 1/2 of a brain could have beat her and it just so happened to be Chris.
Tom needs to be beat - he is so full of himself and cares nothing about anyone else. So, find someone to kick his ass to retirement.
As for Dems taking money from Sheldon, shameful. I won't vote for any Dem that takes a contribution from little Sheldon.

The implication of this topic, conversation, and D. Taylor's remarks is that because Chris G., Collins, and Weekly took money from Adelson, they owe him favors and will change their stance and future votes because of his contributions.
I don't give a shit if they take his money, take as much as you can from the bastard, and then work your ass off to help workers in Adelson's casino's unionize.
D. Taylor should be careful, he is sending a pretty poor message. "You guys are expected to take our money and vote the way Culinary wants because we paid you."
I’m one who thinks Chris G. at least would have no problem sitting down with Adelson’s people and telling them no to their face despite their contributions.

Anyone who can't take a contribution from someone and then vote against them does not belong in politics.
If D and Pilar want to sit there and blather they need to either back it up or shut up. I don't see anyone coming out of 226 to run against Ruben, either. 226 is all talk.

Pedro is right -- if these schmucks are willing to write the checks to people who are on opposite sides of the political spectrum (and it works both ways, don't forget that), then by all means, rake in the coin then kick their asses anyway.
A quid pro quo is a quid pro quo no matter if it's in favor of the Culinary or in favor of Sheldon.

Nightowl said it best... "In our State we have a crossver history of voting the person not the party and accepting funding from whatever source." What about a Republican Assemblyman who gets big money from the teachers? Should we scorn the teachers too?
I just find Mike Z's revolutionary tirades to be counter to Nevada's evolutionary mindset. Mike, you claim to be an Obama supporter yet your child-like rants run counter to what Obama stands for. You're starting to sound like a little kid who can't get his happy meal fast enough.

"You're starting to sound like a little kid who can't get his happy meal fast enough."
Classic.
