On track to be freed from his estranged wife, an equally estranged, or at least strange, governor is trimming down — in anticipation, presumably, of sipping wine with single mothers half his age who he can later lure into parking garages where he can slam them up against walls and force them to put out or else.
Southern Nevada's beloved/intrepid NORM!, showing the rest of the media how it should be done, reports:
At the beginning of the interview, I mentioned to Gibbons that his weight loss was a topic of conversation at the event, the eighth Governor's Black-tie Invitational at Southern Highlands...
"I'm back to my fighting weight," said Gibbons, who volunteered that he's lost 40 pounds and is down to 185 pounds.
The former combat pilot and decorated veteran of both the Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars said he's been working out, "watching my diet, and I'm feeling so much better."
"It's called the divorce diet," said a friend of the governor's.
Gov. Pervus A. McSkanktard getting his game on and going on the prowl. "Ooh, governor, is that a No New Taxes pledge in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" Rrrrooowww!

I guess the Gov is ready for theDanger Zone

Hope 'ol Jimbo remembers Mother's Day is right around the corner. But he would probably order the item sans dry cleaning.

I don't know who to worry about more:
1. The drunken women the Gibber seems to like to hit on;
2. The rest of us when he tries to help them get behind the wheel and drive while drunk.
Since I am not a lawyer, I have a question: if you are assisting someone who is legally drunk to drive, are you committing a crime? I would think so. Admittedly, it would be the least of his crimes, but still ....

"No new tax pledges" don't have that girth, but then again... neither does his grasp of the issues. He just doesn't doesn't have the intellectual capabilities for the job... the ones required to be a chief executive, and the ones required to close the deal with the ladies. His head and his hand must tired by now.

Dabney Coleman can play him in "The Jim Gibbons Story"
Posted by: Mark$ | 04/04/2008 at 12:00 PM
LOL Mark, that could kill even Dabney's career!
Playing the worst Governor in the history of the United States who also seems to be the sleaziest is a tough call.
I think Quinton Terintino should write the screen play and Steve Buscemi should play the sleaze ball ass clown. I might watch it then.

Didn't the guy in the pic star as Magnum PI in the 80's?
I wonder who the first GOPer is who will challenge him in the 2010 primary. They don't appear to have a deep bench for that office.
Lorraine Hunt? The Eydie Gorme look-alike who shaves her eyebrows and then pencils them back in?

Being the weekend and all, maybe we can go out into the playground and be 'off-subject' here.
Some Wall Street types seem to think we are in a bit of a squeeze here in the U.S. of A. So naturally they're looking come November for a financial messiah to lead us out of bondage and into the land of milk and honey again.
HRC thinks she is the best qualified because, after all, she did run the White House budget for eight years (e.g. flowers, cooking, lawn mowing, etc.). And, after all, she is used to running a budget equal to some third world countries.
But after going through a $100 million of that money and at least an equal amount of campaign money she is broke on her ass and stiffing small and large contractors all over the country.
Somewhere way, way back in my life I remember something warning of "false prophets". Now where was that....

I wonder if the Gov is dumb like a fox.
He piloted DC-10's for Western and flew in the USAF, and you need more than opposable thumbs to do that, so he must have some brain activity, present spouse excluded.
A DC friend told me a long time ago that his heart was broken he didn't get that House committee Chair he wanted so badly and was going to 'make 'em pay'...I just never thought it would be his fellow Nevadans he'd take it out on.
It would seem now he has the GOP by the balls too. A GOP move to dump him in 2010 could elect a Dem gov, and I'm not sure they would risk that with reapportionment in 2011.
Today, his 'I kept my promises' campaign theme for re-election would re-elect him easily here, though he couldn't win even an advisory board seat in any other state.

Gibbie was in the USAF?
I didn't know Mormons believed in those new-fangled flyin' machines.
:P

He wasn't a Mormon until he ran for Governor
Posted by: KidFromVegas | 04/06/2008 at 09:09 AM
That's why he could be drunk while campaigning.

Just like Harry Reid, the Gov became LDS to enhance his political life, that's why Harry covertly supported him in 2006. Can't have a woman in such a high position from either party.

"He piloted DC-10's for Western and flew in the USAF, and you need more than opposable thumbs to do that, so he must have some brain activity"
And the point is? so can our asshole in chief.

Isn't anybody in the media interested in Jim Gibbons' sex life? For ten years he was a Congressman in Washington DC, while wife Dawn Gibbons was thousands of miles away in Nevada.
Maybe Jim Gibbons took a vow of chastity.
Maybe not.
Inquiring minds want to know!!!
Posted by: Nevada Ned | 04/06/2008 at 09:43 AM
Whoever posted at 9:34 a.m., Reid became Mormon when he was a college student. He also comes from a family with alcohol problems and got a lot of help from Mormons in high school and college. To say that he became Mormon for political purposes is to claim something you do not know.
That would be like my saying I know for a fact that Gibbons was a danger to drunken women in bars in Washington, D.C. I know that he was dangerous in Las Vegas--if he wasn't hitting on Ms. Mazzeo, he was trying to help her drive drunk, which demonstrates that he was dangerous--but I can't prove or say the same for back east.

Ya know, looking at this 'macho' picture of the gov, I see he is a far cry from being in compliance with USAF Standard 35-10; Personal Standards....moustache and hair extend beyond acceptable limits (edge of mouth and top of ear)....wasn't he the guy in charge of the squadron? My, more of the same years hence....

I don't know when Reid became LDS, but they do nothing to 'help' people Dr, they are in constant recruiting mode like the JW's.
When I see free clinics or hospitals bearing the LDS brand, then I won't think of them as a business. The Catholics, Jews, Presbyterians, Baptists, Lutherans, even the 7th Day Adventists do their Judeo-Christian service with hospitals and such.
I personally have never seen LDS efforts to help their fellow man in any capacity. I know of none here in SoNev.

Of course not, Mike. Why would Saints help sinners.
Seriously, you make a good point. On a site where all religions are kind of bashed, it is good to point out that some at least try to have a positive impact on society at large. Others? Not so much.

My favorite part of The Gibber's heart-wrenching confessional to Norm!, was the accompanying photo of our tux-clad governor, pointing to a TV set like he'd never seen one in his life.
I've got it! He's the Martian Manhunter, assimilating all his knowledge of Planet Earth from what he sees on the idiot box!

I understand that the LDS Bishop's Pantry contibutes to the local help groups.......
Posted by: | 04/07/2008 at 02:28 PM
There really aren't any religious institutions someone can't malign. Since when is running charity hospitals the only measure of charity? You will not find me defending the LDS church very often, but to maintain that, as a religion, is free of good works is ridiculous.
