As outlined in an earlier insightful political analysis, we thought it would have been the other way around, i.e., that Dawn would be the one seeking a split from the nation's worst governor.
So it was a bit surprising from the first to hear the version wherein it is Perv, not Dawn, filing to get out from the empty failure of a marriage (as Pervus described it to Chrissy Mazzeo before taking her out to the parking garage, slamming her up against the wall and telling her to put out or else).
Alas, the Gleaner is but an amateur in the field of rumormongering. At Wonkette (via Myrna), however, where rumors are slung by trained professionals, it is being reported, well, rumored, that it is indeed Dawn, not Perv, who is seeking the divorce, and that in fact the papers were served Wednesday.
The Gleaner's devilish rumor providers, or "sources," as they're called in the media, could have been wrong, s'pose.
But it's more fun to suppose that Pervus was for being the plaintiff before he was against it. See, maybe the governor was going to file, but then flip-flopped when it was explained to him by a minion for bitchy little area megalomaniac and McSkanktard controlling interest Sheldon Adelson that politically, it would be far preferable for Perv to be on the receiving end of the paperwork. That way, the nation's most glassy-eyed governor could claim that he had tried, tried, tried like a good little skanky hypocritical Republican to keep his hollow husk of a marriage intact, but that his wife would not agree, so what was a poor McScurve to do but let her go and wish her well.
Which is to say maybe Perv was instructed to suck it up and tell or at least get word to Dawn that she better be the one filing the papers — that is, if she's holding out any hope of a) an extremely lucrative post-divorce sinecure in a faraway land courtesy of an ardent Gibbons for Governor supporter and b) whatever's left of the secret stash of cash and gambling chips.
Dontcha just love it when a real Resmuglican hypocrite gets a good reeming?
Oh wait, you say he's been getting it regularly from Leola McConnell? (Along with Bill Bennett!)
Yanno the image of Gibby and Bennett in black leather thongs, wearing dog collars and crawling on the floor has kept me laughing for quite a while.

Seems simple. Dawn wanted to be governor, Dawn got to be governor, Dawn didn't like being governor. Cloudy Top was just a means to an end, and she, too, knew he was dumb as a stick.

Nah, I think she decided long ago to dump the guy but stuck around so long because they seriously believed he might be on the national ticket or get a job in the cabinet. But after 15 months of flailing wildly both on the policy and the politics, culminating in his obtuse refusal to endorse McCain the other day, she realized the jig was up and it was time to move on.

If either party served papers, this rumor should be easy to verify by the local media. How come it hasn't yet?

Hmmm....can an ex-wife testify against her ex?
As far as I know "the" federal investigation of loose chips and sinking ships has yet to be closed.
Oh, come on - y'all remember that one don't ya?

Can a state file for divorce?
Posted by: Dude | 02/28/2008 at 11:26 AM
Good thing the Giblet is a lock on re-election or this divorce thing could actually hurt him.
Posted by: Dude | 02/28/2008 at 11:27 AM
Dawn is the most paranoid person I have seen here. She really does believe Al Quida is going to swoop down and snatch her up and frankly, most Nevadans would applaud that occurring--no ransom or bail parties for her. Few would notice she was gone.
I saw the Guv at the Tri-City Chamber mixer and he too is paranoid. Surrounded by about 3000 lbs of scary looking beefcake body guards, he actually said he wondered why no one was coming up to say hello.
Yet, this guy is probably comfortably re-elected unless Harry passes, and he appoints himself to the US Senate. All things considered, Babs Buckley isn't our best choice against him in 2010, Ross Miller or Kim Wallin seem the far better choices, and far more likely to beat him.
Neither are concerned with Al Quida kidnapping their spouses either.

Buckley beating Gibbons? LOL.
Yes, Ross Miller would have a shot. As would CCM. Not so sure about Kim.
Buckley? LOL.

Hey! ~~ How 'bout Derby running against Gibberdagrabber!? She and the Douglas Drunks can nominate and run her since she will be around after losing to Heller again. No need to involve the Dem party at all. Then she could commute her own perjury sentence.
I even surprise myself at times with these flashes of brilliance....

Dawn Gibbons is a total cougar!

Ross Miller for GOV 2010.Great choice.WHo ever is going to do it needs to come out very soon and run an urban campaign. Dems lost it through Clark COunty last time-not high enough Dem turn out.

If you don't think Buckley is a shoe in then you have not been paying attention Z. She has all the power in the Assembly. With one more D, she can have a veto proof majority. She will run roughshod over anyone else. Miller has plenty of time to mature into a Gub and CCM would be a nice replacement for Harry.

"She has all the power in the Assembly"
What power is that, Scratchy? A bunch of head-nodders hand picked for the primary reason that they have absolutely no brain or charisma of their own?
Being leader of the assembly did wonders for Perkins. In the whole assembly there are maybe 4 or 5 Dems who have anything resembling their own bases. The rest are interchangeable clones.
Posted by: A dose of reality | 02/28/2008 at 06:04 PM
Nevada Dems need to get their act together and stop picking such piss poor candidates to take on Repugs in a "he-man" state.
Run Ross Miller for Governor or even Catherine Cortez Masto.
Buckley just doesn't do it for most.

Texex - who the hell are you, from Douglas County, to post criticism about Clark? Why don't you stay up north and take your meds as JLA has suggested, and stay the hell out of this blog?

J Lunatic Assinett in anon drag - Feel free to stand up as high as you can on your tippy-toes and kiss my ass.

I think you have no idea who wears the pants in the Leg. Buckley has as much power as Raggio. She is very shrewd and capable and has the respect of all the Rural good old boy legislators. She is an easy in if the Democrats in Clark will show and vote. Again, give Ross a RedShirt, he has plenty of time to be Governor. He just got out of diapers. I don't think CCM will want to go against Buckley.

I do have to say I like that we are talking about replacements. These three are excellent. It is better than focusing on all the failures we have had in the recent past.

"Texex" that is NOT my post under "What The Hell" at 7:02 - so, please stop making totally unfounded fictional assumptions!
However, "What The Hell" is RIGHT! As I've told you repeatedly over the phone and in numerous e-mails (and I constantly repeat to the mentally disorderd and disabled vets I work with) - It is ALL about the right medication, in the correct dosage and frequency, and that Pharmaceutical Therapy in combination with the appropriate Cognitive and Behaviorial Therapies working regulary - but, you do have to follow your Doctors orders, take your medications, and go to your therapy appointments!
Please, realize that your problems are very treatable and your life can change vastly for the better!
But, you have to make the paradigm shift from being a NON-compliant patient to a fully compliant patient FIRST!
The law is very clear, until you descend to the point that you have become a threat to yourself or others, no one, not a friend, not even a family member can take the legal action necessary to have you legally declared incompetent and forced into therapy - and, by then, it's usually very, very sad and often only after a tragedy!
Please get some REGULAR professional help!

Babs has that same quality that sank Dina...professorial..lecturing. I just don't see her clicking with average voters. I've never seen her happy to be at an event, like it is painful for her to work a room, or that we owe her something, or she'd rather be doing something else like the laundry.
I will grant she is well studied and well suited to the Assembly, but she has no political star power at all--she can't win a statewide race. Zip on the Sparkle factor.
The Cali transplants who control Clark aren't going to vote for a dowdy looking, frowning Babs Buckley...they want attractive people...it's how they think there, and now here. That's why we took the State Con offices in '06---those are all pretty good looking folks.
Ross is the far better choice. He hasn't done much yet which always is a winner, nice kid too. But you're right, he needs to announce right after the election this year.
I want CCM for US Senate--she is the perfect candidate for that office...her numbers in 2006 turned heads all over the country. Harry's won't run again, Landra will kill him and he loses badly to everyone, including in a primary-- and CCM beats everyone in both parties handily.
Still Kim Wallin is just great! I really like that lady--that is a Dem to be proud of--terrific campaigner and superior in office.
Posted by: MikeZ | 02/28/2008 at 09:22 PM
Well Z, someone is going to have to personality her up, because that is who is going to run and no other "legit" Democrat is going run against her. Kim is a great Controller and campaigner but what made her credible for Controller, CPA... does not matter for Gov. Keep her around and work her up through Treasurer. Yes, CCM would make a great first female Nevada US Senator.

Well my chemical imbalance has never been such that I have to carry around a paper certifying I am not a looney as you do to keep from getting locked up again.
I've always considered it a sign of pretty sick guy that actually brags about a paper saying he is "now well". Just how many years were you locked up to finally get your graduation papers back into the real world?
It's OK that you were locked up in the psych ward; happens to many GIs. Just make sure you keep that paper on you AT ALL TIMES so they don't lock you up again.
Posted by: texexnv@gmail.com | 02/28/2008 at 09:41 PM
"Texex" I don't carry my medical records around with me - and I've never been "locked up" in a Mental Ward - you just keep cycling in your mania and making up lie on top of lie and manifesting your mania! You know how this cycling ends - please, let's drop this subject - I'm not comfortable discussing your problems on a public blog - will you please calm down and stop posting on this topic - PLEASE?
And please, PLEASE don't even attempt to act like you really know anything substantial about my community - you don't know hardly anything (other than what you heard second, or third, or fourth hand)!
