In awarding Al Gore with its so-called "Peace Prize," the Nobel committee brazenly cast aside even the slightest pretense that they are anything other than a far left propaganda tool that has bought into the whole "global warming" hysteria, which of course is merely a front for world wide socialism.
"Of course we're happy for Vice President Gore," said a White House spokester in a statement calculated to placate the liberal media, but in truth only served to further alienate the heartland.
There, now no one has to listen to Rush Limbaugh or watch FOX News for the next week or so.
Meantime, back in the reality-based community, now seems like a good time to revisit a passage written by David Remnick in a piece about Gore in the New Yorker last year:
"...It is past time to recognize that, over a long career, his policy judgment and his moral judgment alike have been admirable and acute. Gore has been right about global warming since holding the first congressional hearing on the topic, twenty-six years ago. He was right about the role of the Internet, right about the need to reform welfare and cut the federal deficit, right about confronting Slobodan Milosevic in Bosnia and Kosovo. Since September 11th, he has been right about constitutional abuse, right about warrantless domestic spying, and right about the calamity of sanctioned torture. And in the case of Iraq, both before the invasion and after, he was right—courageously right—to distrust as fatally flawed the political and moral good faith, operational competence, and strategic wisdom of the Bush Administration."
Yeah, well, maybe so. But Tipper was never president. Which is to say Al Gore may have an Oscar and a Nobel Peace Prize, but let's face it, he's no Hillary Clinton.
As predicted long ago by me and others, he won his Prize and the decision to jump into the race will be made before T-Giving.
He's the number one concern of the Clinton campaign and always has been. He can do great damage to her by simply NOT endorsing her.
Either way, there will be no endorsement of Clinton by Tennessee Tuxedo. He strongly dislikes Harry Reid, so he won't be coming here often because of the Reid/Hillary confab.
His entry would be the requisite high colonic our party needs now and puts the brakes on what has become a coronation and not a nominating process.
I think Al & Hillary cancel each other out and opens the door to the others a little wider...it would at least make the 'yawner' the process is now a bit more interesting.
Many powerful folks in the 202 area code must be burning up the phone lines now pleading for his entry into the race.
Better than even money that he's 'in',would be my guess. So we may have more deep tongue wife kissing and semi-erect photo shots in national magazines to look forward to.

Mike - if only you're right about him (Gore)getting in the race. Wrong about canceling hilrod...if he enters the race he'll win in a landslide. I'll be the first in line. Just think about the mess the asshole43 has made, it'll take a Gore to get this country back..hilrod and bambam are just MTV types and more of the same. Hilrod has no shame and is taking K Street money. If she's the candidate - I will vote against her.

Gore is a smart man. Meaning, he is too smart to go through this crap again.

Who else has anything approaching Gore's credibility now?
Everyone knowns about Hillary's high negatives. And, damn, I wish he would.
But even though it's NOT too late to enter the primaries, and he would for sure raise a huge amount of money, I just don't see him running, taking on the Clinton machine. And I don't see Hillary agreeing to take the second spot on the ticket.

Here is my prediction which I know means little:
Gore doesn't jump in, holds out to see if his first chance, Edwards has a shot, ends up endorsing Obama.
I think Hillary's achilles heal will be super Tuesday. By that time all the 2nd and 3rd tier candidates will probably have dropped out, maybe even Edwards will have as well.
Most of those supporters and undecided's go to Obama and he inches out a victory just before the national convention with support from Gore, and Edwards.
Dodd & Biden don't endorse either one of them.
As for me, I'll probably be caucusing for Edwards and joining the undecided's if he is not viable.

Er...should read "first choice" not chance
Posted by: Pedro | 10/12/2007 at 09:48 AM
Pedro, after doing some reading, sadly I must agree with you. Why in hell would Al Gore run for the snake pit known as Washington, DC? Hillary will be our new Medusa (no makeup required) and we'll stay on the road of corrupt, elite ideologue, mediocrity. The stock market will boom and the middle class will disappear. Nothing's going to change.

All good points, gentlemen. I don't see Gore running and screwing up a perfectly good, productive, and satisfying lifestyle.
But his influence can be of tremendous value in shifting the race. There's always been bad blood beween he and Hilly since she tried to be V.P. so don't look for him to go there. I could, though, see him supporting Edwards in a big way knocking Obambam out and erasing Hilly's considerable lead.
After that your crystal ball is as good as anybody's.

RUN AL RUN

You never know what could happen...Kathy Augustine never made it to the primary.

Good to hear from you Rich!
Whether he will or won't; I'm leaning he will.
Like I've said the Clinton's and the Gores don't like each other and Tipper can be a rip roarin' bitch when her man is isn't tongue bathing her.
I think it would be the best possible thing for the party to have him jump in.
He stops her money machine dead in its tracks, no doubt.
Posted by: MikeZahara | 10/12/2007 at 02:41 PM
I doubt he'll run, but if he does I'll support him just like I always have (going back to 1988).

"Like I've said the Clinton's and the Gores don't like each other and Tipper can be a rip roarin' bitch when her man is isn't tongue bathing her."
Are you kidding me? Do you really believe you know these things?

I agree, Tipper's got to be a hot woman, whose needs need to be fulfilled often.
Damn, she'd make a marvelous (and attractive and smart) First Lady.
(Remember the old Clinton-era joke about Bill peeing outside a White House window, a message in the snow -- but it was in Tipper's handwriting?)
