What does it mean (as Jack Cafferty likes to say) when Hillary Clinton's chief campaign strategist's PR firm, Burson-Marsteller, is also advising the Blackwater elite Republican Guard?
It means that Clinton and her team are a just a bunch of "corporate Democrats," says John Edwards, who while he was at it compared Clinton's "cronyism" to Bush's and equated Burson-Marsteller president and chief Borg strategist Mark Penn with Karl Rove. AP
That in turn prompted a blistering salvo from an outraged Borg (pictured, courtesy of the wonderfully magnanimous 'Monger). Well, it wasn't really blistering ... more of a strong counterattack. Um, no, that's not right either. OK. The Borg made a statement:
Howard Wolfson, a spokesman for the Clinton campaign, said that Mrs. Clinton had not asked Mr. Penn for an explanation about Blackwater — about which she has expressed concerns on the campaign trail — nor asked him to take a leave from Burson.
“Mark is an extremely valuable member of this team,” Mr. Wolfson said. “He is our senior strategist. Senator Clinton clearly believes Blackwater must be held accountable for its actions.”
About Mr. Penn’s ongoing ties to Burson, Mr. Wolfson said. “His situation is very typical for presidential campaigns. There is nothing unusual about a consultant maintaining outside affiliations. Hillary has trust in Mark." (Caucus/NYTimes)
Oh, so long has Hillary has trust in Mark.
In any case, there you have it. Clinton's chief strategist is the president of the company that has been helping Blackwater's freaky creepy churchy trained-killer bossman continue to rake in billions of dollars so he can pay his mercenaries a hell of a lot more money than what the nation's soldiers make. But Clinton's strategist had the company cut its ties to Blackwater — just as soon as those ties were reported in the press! Now everybody hush and never mind. Hey, did you know that Hillary's husband used to be a president?
Here again is yet another difference John Edwards and the Gleaner. Given the Borg's airy apology for its union-hating Republican Guard-loving cynical consultant, if we were drawing comparisons between Clinton and Bush, like Edwards did, we most assuredly would not have neglected to mention the Borg's profoundly offensive arrogance. It's nothing if not Bushesque.
Well, maybe unmitigated arrogance is exactly what it will take to beat the Republicans. And goodness knows come 2009, after eight years of warmongering cynical corporate cronies running everything, this nation will definitely deserve a completely new group of warmongering cynical corporate cronies, no?
Well, since Hillary is very pro Israel and Sheldon Adelson is a local, I'd like to share something I found on talkingpoints central's tpc.
The writer is reviewing a new book that is already on the NY Times best seller list,"The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy" and he has this to say;
"The more important challenges though concern the future. Freedom’s Watch and the push for a military attack on Iran has an eerie familiarity about it. Just look at who the prime donor and mover behind Freedom’s Watch is – Sheldon Adelson – close ally of Bibi Netanyahu who has poured millions into a pro-Bibi daily paper in Israel (read this Jim Lobe piece for more).

Hey Gleanerman - Thanks for the evidence that confirms my FUCKING fear of the mighty Borg.

Coolican joins the cool kids, on Politico.
He reports that when Edwards appeared in early September at a rally with members of the Carpenters and Steelworkers to receive their endorsement, he made appearances at his campaign headquarters, never meeting actual voters,.
Members of unions not being actual voters, of course.
What Coolican means is that he didn't talk to reporters.
As always, its always all about the reporter.
By the way, Patrick, when was the last time Hillary Clinton held an event open to the public in Nevada? How about never?
So who meets with actual voters?

Actually Hillary Clinton held an open event in Reno back in April at Hug High School, attended by over 3,000 people.
It hasn't been that long ago.

Clinton also had an event in Las Vegas that my wife (and several thousand others) attended and an impromptu visit to a Henderson supermarket not too long ago. Sorry if the facts get in the way of anybody's preconceived opinions.

Hillary's events are totally staged to give the impression of "listening", when they are actually carefully crafted propaganda sessions with soft-ball set up questions from supportive voters.
Come on folks, if you are reading the Gleaner you are sophisticated enough to sift the bullshit from the rhetoric, right?
Truth be told, what Hillary hears while "listening" means nothing if it means cutting out her inside the beltway Democratic lobbyists from their cushy cash filled Washington lobbying careers selling out American tax payers.
Edwards is right: It will do Americans no good to just change the party affiliation of the Washington DC insiders who are pillaging the American tax payers for their own personal financial benefit.
Democrats can do better for themselves if they do not support Hillary's personal obsession for power because, frankly, eight years of the Clintons is enough.
We need a new direction and a fresh start and Hillary can provide neither.
America is losing 1000 veterans a day, the greatest generation, which fought and won WWII against European fascism and Japanese Imperialism, and they weep at the rise of a new Amrican fascism on their homeland.
Think long and hard about the utter destruction of American values that has transpired since 1980. And don't forget this decline of American values has been overseen by a Bush or a Clinton, or both during the riegn of King George II.
To close, what's most important? What's best for Bill and Hillary Clinton or what's best for Americans. The difference is huge, so don't fall for the Clinton propaganda that distorts the truth while it sells America out.

While this story is very disturbing, it's not surprising from the Clintons.
I was there when Prez Clinton promised 'the most ethical administration in American history' and then watched as it became the Harding and Nixon administrations with everyone feasting.
They are a cunning and ruthless political team.
Then came Bush and it got even worse.
I think Americans sense this and will look for the fresher faces in 2008. There's only so much of the excesses and arrogance we can tolerate in both party's candidates.
There's really no model or strategy today that shows she can do anymore than win the nomination, unless they sponsor a 3rd party entry ala Perot in '92.
It should be a fun year to write about in 2008; I'd keep the closer eye on Congress as that's where the real power lies and what the Clintons can't control.
There are no guarantees for anyone in any office in 2008. Everything is fair game and I think voters are going to clean house up and down each side of the aisle.

Like I've been saying, she's Bush-in-a-skirt.
But don't be surprised when Psycho 43 attacks Iran. Desert Beacon has been all over this one.
