- Criminal-coddling Islamofascist sympathizers on the Nevada state Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee (no, we didn't know there was such a committee, either) irresponsibly kill innovative legislation allowing teachers to pack heat (LVRJ). Don't these appeasement-happy defeatist surrender monkeys know we're at war, and if we don't defeat the terrorist threat at school, we'll have to defeat it at home?
- Those of you looking for something to do while you're pretending to work should most definitely check out Myrna's heartfelt and magnificent rant on why Kos has jumped the shark, Reno's answer to Don Imus and more items from the front lines of our crazy politico-cultural milieu. Reno and Its Discontents
- Steve Sebelius unapologetically uses the publication he edits to push his liberal pro-civilization bias. LVCityLife
- The Great and Powerful Harry Reid calls on activists to get out there and find a Republican senator who will switch their vote on stem cell research. But don't bother looking in Harry's back yard. LVRJ
- Making it harder for Nevada high school graduates to get a Millennium scholarship and go on to college means there are less students in the higher education system, which means the state doesn't have to spend as much money on higher education, and scaredy-cat politicians won't have to impose any taxes on bidnesses that already don't pay any taxes. Is that cool or what? RGJ, LVRJ
- Further details from the whopping UN global warming report indicate that much of Nevada is on the verge of becoming a parched, hostile and largely unlivable post-apocalyptic wasteland (AP). But we'll be a lightly taxed post-apocalyptic wasteland.
- Big-schmig columnist with choice MSM real estate confirms that, upon reflection, Nevada Dems were right to give Fox the boot. Dionne/Post
- Plotting and tirelessly advocating one of the most catastrophic, tragic, arrogance-driven blunders in the history of humankind is one thing. But using your influence on the geopolitical stage to get yourself laid -- sorry, Wolfie, you're going down for that. NYTimes
- Some email thing suggests that the Bush White House puts politics generally and partisan politics specifically ahead of the national interest and even the rule of law (NYTimes). Yeah, that was interesting the first 2,983 times.

Has anybody caught the worst part of the whole Millennium Scholarship mess--that two vice-chancellors SUPPORTED eliminating most of the non-science-type majors? What a pair of whoring jerks.

"Whoring jerks" is being too kind

Yes, we caught it. Now, why haven't they been fired?

Wolfowitz has always given me the creeps. Dan Klaich is equally as creepy. And Ashley is just the water boy for Rogers. Pathetic.

IJ: How bout a good old fashioned stoning? I'll be happy to pitch the first stone to break the ice, that is if you don't beat me to the punch LOL

Gleaner ~ you're too good of a wordsmith to use "rant" to describe Myrna's remarks. How 'bout replacing that with 'treatise' or something more apropros.
Thanks.
Posted by: texex | 04/13/2007 at 09:25 AM
Myrna's post is excellent.
Posted by: IronJawed | 04/13/2007 at 10:11 AM
I wonder what Myrna thought about the accusations in the Duke rape case a year ago. Did she assume the guys were guilty?
And what about "misogynist" females? The corporate ranks are full of them now, and the "little girls clubs" are part of major industries from publishing to film to law.
Posted by: bmt | 04/13/2007 at 10:48 AM
bmt ~ this knuckledragger stuff is old, old, old. Why don't you go to her blog and ask her instead of doing it here?
Posted by: texex | 04/13/2007 at 10:58 AM
texex: Sure, once you and JLA start your own blog so we don't have to read your inanities on this one.
Posted by: bmt | 04/13/2007 at 11:13 AM
BMT, dude, you have some serious issues.
Duke Lacrosse and Myrna's discussion = apples and oranges. The Duke Lacrosse case was the result of an over-zealous prosecutor and a mentally ill woman.
One case does not clear away the fact that 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 10 men will be sexually assaulted in her/his lifetime.
Posted by: IonJawed | 04/13/2007 at 11:21 AM
IJ: If you look far down in Myrna's post, she talks about the offensive things people said about the accuser in the Duke case, as examples of how people can blame a rape victim.
Ironically, the Duke thing was much more a case of blaming and assailing the defendants (as Duke's faculty and administrators, and many others, did) before all of the evidence was in.
Posted by: bmt | 04/13/2007 at 11:31 AM
What is your point? I don't see how that has anything to do with misogyny. Are you actually trying to claim that misogyny doesn't exist because one woman wrongly accused boys in North Carolina of rape? This conversation is a little nuts.
Posted by: IronJawed | 04/13/2007 at 11:45 AM
IJ - it was actually the MALE knucklegragger prosecutor that put the Dukes in Hazard's path MORE than the hooker. And bmt, once texex x-press does go online, I'll still come back and visit knuckledraggers like you quite often.

"bmt" you do NOT have to read my posts, I just scroll past yours, because you rarely have anything to say that's worth reading and my valuable time! Learn to use the scroll keys, at least, until you've got the balls to disclose your identity!

bmt, she was pretty reserved on jugement at the time. She just posted something about it linking back to a year ago the other day.
Posted by: Ryan Jerz | 04/13/2007 at 12:36 PM
BMT, Myrna is probably one of the more thoughtful and less "knee jerk" bloggers out there. She urged caution in the Duke lacrosse case early on.
Anyway, while you guys have all been yammering on about that, the terrorists have moved one step closer to winning - they have begun deploying suicide pigeons.

"The plane landed safely, and no one was hurt." Not sure the bird would agree with that. Actually it's part of a new non-traceable email system they're trying out with the usual government success.
Posted by: texex | 04/13/2007 at 01:37 PM
So you think that the prosecutor was a "reverse misogynist?" You guys are soooooo weird.
Posted by: IronJawed | 04/13/2007 at 02:13 PM
JLA: "Scroll past" is exactly what I do to your rambling, laughingly elongated, windbagged, ridiculous (and truly worthless) posts.
IJ: You confused yourself. You and texex have no toleration for views other than the predicable, one-size-fits-all PC ones you hold.
You're like Gloria Allred -- equal rights means women's rights matter most. The Gloria Allreds of the world sound off when a woman's rights are violated, but remain silent when a man's are.
It appears as though Myrna DID advocate caution in the Duke case. That's good. But from someone who espouses feminist views, she should have commented on the hatred and prejudice that the three falsely-accused white males endured for a year, which is a true reflection of our society today as well.
Posted by: bmt | 04/13/2007 at 02:19 PM
I am not confusing myself, you are beingconfusing. You make no sense. You are kind of living in your own universe. I mean, do you really think the three quite wealthy young men, who were covered by the media from LA to London and back really need to be "commented on" by a Reno blogger? Dude, you aren't even on planet Mars. You are on Beta 1 Sagittarii
Posted by: IronJawed | 04/13/2007 at 03:07 PM
IJ -- OK, butch:
I was clear on my point about how these what you call "wealthy" (your code word for those who get off when guilty, right?) men were treated, and how in my opinion Myrna should have commented on the prejudiced remarks put to THEM, along with the prejudiced remarks Myrna DID include about the Duke rape ACCUSER in her blog -- but you far too emotional to get it.
It's a waste of time explaining it to you.
And keep your spacey references to yourself.
Posted by: bmt | 04/13/2007 at 03:40 PM
bmt, did you ever bother to look through myrna's site to see what she said? I know its a lot to ask, but perhaps a bit of homework might payoff (or make you look like the fool after badmouthing her for what she hasn't written).
Posted by: | 04/13/2007 at 04:13 PM
Uh, BMT, has it ever occurred to you that calling someone "Butch" is kind of like commenting on the Rutgers women's basketball team? You might think about the fact that you are the one who has descended to incendiary name-calling.
