Join us now for a bittersweet retrospective on the excitement and the promise that was the Tom Vilsack for President campaign (AP): As a clearly swept-up-in-the-moment Gleaner wrote when Vilsack was the first to formally jump into the race last November, "we wouldn't be a bit surprised if he drops out of the race altogether before a single primary or caucus vote is cast, for lack of support." Meantime, Randy said "Yo, dog, just keep working," Paula said "You're wonderful, I love you, it just didn't work out this time," and Simon said "You're boring and people don't want to be bored. They want to be entertained."
- Republican congressman Jon Porter took a break from jamming with his combo long enough to express delight that he managed to escape nearly the entire controversy over the Divine Strake Really Big Boom at the Nevada Test Site without ever having to express a position. But how, you might wonder, would Porter square that relief with the knee-jerk enthusiasm for blowing things up that is so important to the good little go-along get-along Republican's wingnut base? Simple: "I would prefer they try it in Iraq and not Nevada," Porter said (LVRJ). Porter, of course, has been to Iraq on more than one occasion, delivering the troops that unique brand of cheer and comfort that only comes from sitting in a half-deserted mess hall listening to Porter's combo twang on and on about getting hammered and hitting on skanks. So Porter understands full well that U.S. forces don't have enough to do already in Iraq, and have more than enough time to oversee a little weapons research on the side. Besides, it's not as if anybody else in Iraq would have any interest in the arrival of 700 tons of volatile explosive compounds.
- FOX says it's delighted to to see mainstream media outlets dredge up stuff like the wingnut network's disgusting and shameful attempt to slime Obama (San Francisco Chronicle). Well, then, so are we.
- Goshdarnit, aren't those presidential candidates ever going to get around to talking about desert tortoise habitat? LVSun
So now it's only 1 Governor, a bunch of Senators(Senators don't get elected President), and 1 crazy Congressman?

So will he go back making those great pickles again? heh heh heh
I know; he's in insurance but Fridays seem to get a bit strained around here and JLA is talking about monkeys and gorillas and who knows what, so maybe some levity is in order.
