| What the governor said Monday »
- The Review-Journal's very own Molly Ball was on the national feed of NPR Friday night talking about the '08 caucus. Later that evening, ABC aired her appearance on Who Wants to Eat A Millionaire or whatever it's called, whereupon Molly won $100,000. Like a flash, we switched the magic lantern to Nevada Week in Review, the fast-paced and rousing community affairs program on KLVX Channel 10, to see if Molly was going to complete a veritable media trifecta and establish herself as the undisputed vortex of the Known Media Universe for Friday, Jan. 19, the Year of Our Christian Lord Two Thousand and Seven. Alas, Week in Review was all white guys again. Molly will just have to settle for the $100,000.
- Speaking of the R-J (we weren't really, but...), it's always nice to see the local MSM get props from the grown-up MSM. So it is with pleasure to note that the R-J has finally caught the attention of the beltway media insiders who read the Washington Post. No, not for the R-J's informed and insightful coverage of Harry Reid or for breaking news from within one of the presidential campaigns targeting Nevada's early caucus. But NORM!'s interview with Rich Little (he used to be an impersonator on teevee back when there were only four channels) has set official Washington on its ear!
- Ooh, a contest! See if you can become the first person to post words (in English, please) on Hillary Clinton's presidential aspirations blog. The winner will receive a plaque commemorating the Clinton campaign's inaugural success at fostering the soothing but wholly batshit crazy impression that the campaign is remotely concerned with any thoughts or opinions that have not been survey-tested and focus-group approved.
- Of the many breathless reports anticipating a speech that some failed ex-congressman is scheduled to deliver Monday, we found Scandalmonger's analysis the most useful. No, we're not kidding.
- We have to watch Gibbons' speech, by the way, because we have to pretend to know something about it on KNPR immediately afterward (Unless the previous sentence prompts the radio station to cancel our scheduled appearance). You, however, don't. And if you are among those folks who only like to see Gibbons on your screen once a week (so as not have to hose it down as often), may we suggest foregoing the state o' the state snoozefest and waiting until the governor relives his mental search for his hotel room key on "Hardball with Chris Matthews" Friday. LVRJ
- If you follow that LVRJ link, by the way, you'll also learn that Dean Heller (he's a Republican congressman, blond, lantern-jawed, represents the bumpkin district ... oh, never mind) isn't competent to cobble together a congressional staff. But what of constituent service, you say? Don't be silly. The last thing all those conservative rugged independent heartlanders in CD2 need is help from the guv'ment.
Good for Molly. Now if she could do some actually inciteful local political reporting, she'd be all set.

Wasn't it only 3 weeks ago we were commenting on the lack of staff by Heller save his 2 staffers named Mac. Mac2 being an ex Ensign staffer and most recently an ex-lobbyist and the other, Mac1, who is known from his stint as a "communications director" for a senator for saying nothing. And this truth is sustained as he would not tell the R-J who the 2 people are that they hired recently.
Gleaner hits it on the head, CD2 people don't need "help from the guv'ment."

Are you being sarcastic? Or did Molly Ball actually win $100k?
