Thanks to VIN the commenter, we're alerted to the latest Zogby Interactive/WSJ Online poll wherein the radical Republicans are again sporting glorious leads.
Senate: Ensign 52, Carter 39.
Gube: Gibbons 47, Titus 39.
Geesh, it seems like just the other day Zogby had the Dems looking so very good:
Senate: Ensign 48.1, Carter 44.7
Governor: Titus 46.8, Gibbons 44.1
Post-primary bounce goes thud? Gibbons and Ensign benefiting from having the airwaves to themselves? Nevadans just gluttons for punishment? Whatever the case -- Whew! Now the area political-industrial complex can breathe a collective sigh of relief, content in the restoration of conventional wisdom.
Until Democrats start buying some ads.
Same thing happened with Gibson...Titus had a small lead, he bought ads and it gave him a substantial lead, then Titus finally got on the air and ended up creaming him.

And Ralston had another poll Sunday similar to the older Zogby one.

Werd-
The situation with Gibson was very different than what we're looking at here. Titus was the favorite from the beginning, she had better name ID, she had the liberal base on her side. When you look at general elections, rarely do angry attacks and catchy rhymes garner support from the other side. This is R versus D, and the R's don't want a liberal taxer in office. No personal attack intended, but Nevada tends to the right in constitutional races.

Uh, Vin, you might want to check all of the news stories and columns, which made clear at the beginning that Gibson was the favorite.

Uh, demdozer, you might want to re-read the stories yourself. I remember clearly that the general consensus was that Gibson would be a good general election candidate IF he could even get out of a primary. Others on this site will back my argument up. Gibson was never considered the favorite!

Titus still is the favorite candidate state-wide, and she, now, has an even faster growing name I.D. (and Dina's name is not associated with Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield)!
Titus has a lot more than just the "liberals" on her side - there are lots and lots of moderates and a significant number of conservatives joining in support!
You know the truly "compassionate" conservatives that are angry about Gibbons voting against the troops and veterans needs - they are going to cross-over and vote "D" this time (or, they will stay home).
As much as "Vin" would like to believe this race is about "R" versus "D" - and as much as the "R" has tried to divide us with fear, misinformation and even disinformation - that game plan isn't going to work anymore!
It's about unity and true "Walk-The-Talk" patriotism - most of Nevada, and most of America is tired of the division created by the "R" factor!
"Vin" - I'm betting you are done and don't even know it (yet) son. How much of your money are you willing to put where your mouth is? Wanna place a bet?
No offense intended.

Johnathan--
I put $1,000 in Gibbons account--that's how sure I am of things. Zogby backed me up this morning. The writing is on the wall. More from me later.

$ 1,000 Bucks on Gibbons! Damn, do you have any idea how many bottles of water a good guy can buy to pass out to our 4,000 Homeless Vets with a grand?
But, of course, you have to be "sure" they are really in need of help - and thirsty? Then, there's the "no feeding the homeless" ruling/policy/law - whatever...

That no feeding the homeless policy is oscar's deal, and it stinks. And to the point of the homeless, I've spent many an evening at St. Vincent's in old Henderson feeding them, many of whom are veterans, (which is an honor to do by the way). No i'm not boasting, just letting you know that I care a hell of a lot about our vets. And, I stand proudly with one of them, COL. Jim Gibbons, in this battle for Governor.
Look, I'll give it to you--Carter has my vote. But Titus over Gibbons--NEVER!! She is not qualified to lead. And she has never proven the ability to do so throughout her career. Johnathan, you know the qualities that it takes to lead people--the military has shown you that. Titus does not possess those qualities. She'd be more likely to spark a state-wide civil war than unify us toward our common goals! Anyway, enough said about that for today.
Note: the aforementioning of gibbons as a vet was in no way meant to be divisive toward other vets, nor was it meant to politicize his service to our country. It was merely meant to point out an honor that only a select few in our society ever have the honor of claiming.

It's really sad that you find helping out feeding homeless vets to be "an honor" - I'm usually feeling "deep shame" when I'm helping homeless vets.
We are wondering how Gibbons "felt" when he voted against funding for supporting our troops and the needs of our veterans?
Can you give a straight answer to that question?

Good rat trap, Johnathan! Seems like Vin-the-vermin has two mouths to speak from so we'll give you double points tonight!
