We've moved into that very, very special time of the year when American journalism does what it does best -- lists and rankings! Biggest stories! Most dead! Time's Person of the Year! (We're pulling for John Cusack again this year, but somehow suspect it'll be Condi Rice. Darned liberal media). And of course, best (or worst, depending on your point of view) corrections, via Regret the Error (and spotted at Romenseko).
This year's winner as the absolutely positively best (or worst):
The Denver Daily News would like to offer a sincere apology for a typo in Wednesday's Town Talk regarding New Jersey's proposal to ban smoking in automobiles. It was not the author's intention to call New Jersey 'Jew Jersey.'
Another one we liked, from The Guardian:
In our G2 cover story about Hunter S Thompson yesterday we mistakenly attributed to Richard Nixon the view that Thompson represented "that dark, venal and incurably violent side of the American character". On the contrary, it was what Thompson said of Nixon.
There's lots more -- some funny, some rather sad, some not fully appreciated except in context (helpfully provided by Regret the Error) and some, surprisingly, rather famous.
